About Pastor Johnny

Hey there, so you want to find out a little bit about me, ok I’ll give you the express version… Where do I begin? Well, I was born in Yonkers, N.Y . I grew up in a broken family, my parents divorced when I was nearly two years old. I saw my dad on the weekends. I had an abusive stepfather from that point on until I moved out at the age of 18 years old. During that time I was thrown out of my high school in tenth grade and placed in an Alternative High school which met on an old army base where our classrooms were inside trailer homes. Hey, I got my High School diploma at least…

I was a junior in High School and moved in with my girlfriend who is now my lovely wife Tina. At that time we were very much into the party lifestyle and the destructive habits and addictions that went along with it. While in high school and working full time, I got Tina pregnant. At the age of 20 my son JohnnyJr. was born. A year later Tina and I were at a place of really fighting a lot and ready to call it quits. I was drinking heavily and we were both partying every weekend separately, things were falling apart, our lives were spinning out of control!

It was at this point that I started going to school to be a barber every night after working all day at a garage. It was at barber school that I noticed a student in the corner reading a Bible. In between haircuts I would tell him all my problems. He would listen and tell me he would pray for me and asked me if I “knew Jesus” I responded that I had my religion, made all of my sacraments, and attended church on Christmas and Easter, all of which in my mind counted as “yeah sure I know Jesus”. Yet I did not have a true saving faith in Him at all.

Long story short, Tina and I were breaking up, I was soon to be moving out , and out of nowhere Tina told me about these people she grew up with who were “Born Again Christians” now I never told her about the guy I met at school, nor about how my aunt and uncle who used to bring me to a born again church when I was 13 years old. Actually it’s in the same building where our church meets today over 20 years later!! God is amazing… Well, she suggested we meet with this couple so that they could help us and talk to us about God. Fast forward a bit, we both realized that we were sinners and needed Jesus to forgive us of our sins. We received Christ into our lives in the later part of 1996. We got married Mar. 16, 1998. God also called me to the ministry in Nov, of 1998. Since then I have had the privilege of serving the Lord in many capacities over the years from mopping bathroom floors to teaching from the pulpit, and now in this season as a Senior Pastor, I just want to continue to be faithful to serve Him and His people.

Jesus Christ has changed my life and continues to do so, it has been an amazing journey thus far. Not without challenges or trials, but He has been and will continue to be my faithful Shepherd! My wife and I have been and continue to be radically changed by the love and grace of Jesus Christ. We have two wonderful children Johnny and Bethany.The joy and peace we have in Christ is Awesome!! His grace is truly amazing!!
